For
six years DeltaLight (UK) Ltd has supplied architectural
light fittings from Delta Light of Belgium. Historically
we have had a great involvement in the design and supply
for large commercial builds but thanks to recent coverage
from programs such as Grand Designs we have seen an increased
interest from the private homeowner.
From
the very first meeting held with Philip and Angela it became
apparent that this project was going to be a very interesting
and exciting one for Deltalight. The idea of contrasting
old with new is becoming more popular and this project was
the perfect opportunity to demonstrate how well our contemporary
light fittings work within an historic building.
It
was very important, certainly in this instance to design
a lighting system that would not only highlight the amazing
original features but also look at home next to the unique
modern interior that was being designed.
We
held many meetings during the project with Philip &
Angela, but right from the start it was clear that while
they had many ideas of their own they were also receptive
to ideas and new angles that with our experience we were
able to put forward. In the long term it was important to
remember that this was a home for them to live in, rather
than just a showhome being produced for Grand Designs.
We
have designed a Lighting system that at the touch of a button
allows you to set a wide range of ‘scenes’ within
the space. This has been achieved using a mix of quite standard
products, alongside products that have never really been
seen in this environment, such as the Chameleon colour change
system. The whole Lighting system is based on simplicity
and flexibility of design using the light source as the
main way of complimenting the amazing space that has been
created in the ThreshingBarn.
